I have been fascinated with collecting antiques for a quite long time. In this journey, I have come across, purchased, and collected many antique pieces such as original paintings, pottery items, and some pieces of jewelry as well.

And not that long ago, I got introduced to the beanie babies. Ty beanie babies have always been a sensation among collectors, and their value grew even more after the retirement of the original toys. 

Princess Bear, Brownie Bear, Batty, Valentino Bear, Bubbles Fish, and Patti Platypus are the very first pieces that caught my attention and grew my interest in the Beanies Babies. Later on, I discovered that these are also some of the most expensive toy beanie babies.

Because of the rarity of the beanie babies produced in the late ‘90s and early 2000s, they can be worth a fortune in the present scenario.

1. Large Wallace and His Squad

• Year – 1999
• Price – 680,000 USD

Large Wallace and his squad stay in the top spot on this list.

This pack of beanie babies holds an undeniable power when it comes to its value. 

This set includes one large-sized Wallace along with two normal-sized Wallaces, named Cashew and Huggy. Due to its rarity, it can be worth around 680,000 USD.

So, if you fancy purchasing a rare collector’s item and afford to spare some money around 600,000 USD, then it is worth investing in Large Wallace and his squad.

2.  Princess the Bear

• Year – 1997
• Price – 675,000 USD

Princess bear is the second most expensive beanie baby on this list. It is also known as the Princess Diana Bear. This particular toy was released in October 1997. 

These have a deep purple colored body, containing a purple ribbon tied around their neck and a white rose emblemed one side of their chest. 

The purpose of releasing these was to influence the beanie community to make some contributions to the Princess memorial fund.

Because of their unusual release, there are only a few original pieces existing. The limited number of original Princess Bears makes each piece extremely rare and can cost around 675,000 USD in the current market. 

3. Bubbles The Fish

• Price – 176,000 USD

This was one of the most popular Ty beanie babies in the late 90s. Released in 1995, Bubbles retired in 1997. 

Due to multiple updates and changes, these have gone through, there have been a few errors, which make those pieces extremely rare and valuable.

The original 1995 pieces which have tag errors are the most valuable ones and could cost over 170,000 USD.

4. Piccadilly Attic

• Price – 125,000 USD

Coming at number four is the Piccadilly attic, which is basically a clown beanie bear. Bears are the most famous among the Ty beanie babies. 

Piccadilly Attic is very rare and unique, and it’s also one of the most expensive beanie babies a collector can have in their collection. These ones have a classic red nose and wear a deep green and blue patterned outfit. 

5. Batty

• Year – 1997
• Price – 125,000 USD

It was released in October 1997. Batty can be instantly recognized by the velcro strips on its wings. It is the only beanie baby which is retailed like this.  

The retired editions of these beanie babies had some sort of tag errors, which made them unique and more valuable to the collectors.

6. Jolly The Walrus

• Year – 1997
• Price – 75,000 USD

Introduced in 1997, Jolly the Walrus has become one of the most valuable beanie babies of all time, which collectors can purchase for 75,000 USD. 

The original version of these beanie babies was available for only a year and retired in 1998. Jolly has little beaded eyes, a greyish-brown colored body, and full whiskers, which makes it very lovable.

7. Lefty the Donkey and Righty the Elephant

These two are the only beanie babies which have some sort of connection to politics. These were introduced in 1996 at the time of elections in which President Bill Clinton was potholed against Ross Perot and Bob Dole.

The 1996 edition of these beanie babies is rare and has the most value.

8. Valentino the Bear

• Price – 42,300 USD

At number eight, Valentino the Bear is on this list which is a white bear containing a red ribbon surrounding its neck and a heart patch of the same color at its chest. From being just a simple gift, it slowly becomes one of the most valuable beanie babies. 

9. Hippity, Hoppity, and Floppity the Bunnies

• Price – 30,000 USD

These beanie babies come in a set of three bunny beanies. As it comes in a set, it is quite hard to obtain and increases its value. In case you come across one of these that may still be worth a fortune. 

10. Millennium Bear

• Year – 1999
• Price – 30,000 USD

This beanie bear is a fuchsia-colored bear that has a golden ribbon surrounding its neck. Millennium has an emblem of a world along with a rising sun and two thousand letters, which makes this a valuable item for collectors. 

11. Brownie The Bear

• Year – 1993
• Price – 20,000 USD

Coming next on this list is Brownie the Bear. It is one of the nine original beanie babies that was ever introduced and it can be worth a fortune. After Brownie retired and got replaced with Cubbie, it has become pretty rare and a popular collector’s item.

12. Hope The Bear

• Year – 1998
• Price – 16,000 USD

Hope is a spiritual beanie bear which makes it pretty rare and highly valuable. It has its hands stitched together while keeping both eyes closed. 

It looks like it was captured in a moment of prayer, which makes it more meaningful and an exceptional find for the collectors. An original 1998 Hope Bear with a tag error is quite rare and can cost around 16,000 USD.

13. Patti The Platypus

• Year – 1993
• Price – 19,500 USD

Like Brownie, it is one of the very first original Ty beanie babies produced in 1993, and a staple item for classic beanie baby collectors. 

Patti can be recognized by its bright yellow bill and purple body. Even the unique selection of animals that Patti resembles, makes it stand out from the rest of the beanie babies. 

Although all of its variations may not be worth much, particularly the magenta-colored one is quite rare and could be worth a fortune. Also, Patti’s with the original 1993 tags has a high value in the current market. 

14. Lggy Lguana

In the 14th position on this list comes Iggy the Iguana, which is one of the costliest beanie babies ever retailed. 

Its design has undergone multiple variations since the release; e.g. some have a rainbow-colored body, some their tongues sticking out of their mouths., whereas some have their tags located in various places.

Among all the editions, the ones with the original 1997 tags are the most expensive and could cost over 15,000 USD.

15. Garcia Bear

Although some people may not be aware of how valuable Garcia is, it can actually be worth around 10,000 USD. 

The beanie baby has a multicolored body, containing colors like red, yellow, teal, and green. Garcia has an eye-pleasing face with two black round button eyes. 

This particular item was produced in a very limited number, hence, it can be pretty hard to find one of these.

16. Macdonald’s International Bears

• Year – 1999
• Price – 10,000 USD

After witnessing the impact of the beanie babies, Mcdonald’s decided to include the scaled-down version of beanie babies in their happy meals, and named them ‘Teenie Babies’. 

This exclusive edition of Mcdonald’s international Teenie babies includes four bears representing four countries – Britannia for Britain, Maple for Canada, Erin for Ireland, and Glory for the United States. The original sets of these beanie babies can be worth 10,000 USD.

17. Claude The Crab

This little crab beanie baby comes with a tie-dye print-styled body, containing colors like green, orange, and blue. The tiny black beaded eyes and colorful body of Claude make it more lovable. 

The original version of Claude the Crab was introduced in 1997 and soon became a collectors’ favorite. 

18. Halo The Bear

Ty released this special edition bear in 1998. These bears have a white furry body with two shimmering wings and a halo on top of their heads. It was meant for symbolizing a guardian angel for the children. 

It was produced only for a year and became a collectors’ favorite after its retirement. The original version of these bears can cost nearly 7,500 USD.

19. Peanut The Elephant

• Price – 7,000 USD

This deep blue colored elephant beanie baby with a crinkled trunk was released in 1995. During the time of its release, circuses were still very popular in the US. Peanut is one of the rarest beanie babies of all time, which makes them one of the most valuable ones.

20. Seaweed The Beanie Baby

• Price – 7,000 USD

This brown-colored otter beanie baby-holding seaweed was introduced in 1996. The original Seaweed beanie babies with tag errors are highly valuable, and some of those can even cost around 7,000 USD.

Why Are Beanie Bears So Famous?

Brought into existence in 1993, Beanie Babies has been noticed to become a huge craze and collectible pieces in the late 1990s. In 1995, these toys became the very first internet sensation in the world. 

Collectors started to collect these toys not only as toys but also as a means of financial investment. Hence, many people started to purchase some particular ones for their high value and resell them for thousands of dollars on the secondary market. Overall, beanie bears have become very popular all over the world.
